The Beacon Ridge Golf course near Pinehurst, NC proved to be little more challenging than most of NCDGA golfers had anticipated. To start the round off, the men played from white (6,143 yds) and the Seniors from Gold (5,354 yds) which was a little unusual and had caused some problems for many. With the greens, fast and the fairways, hard and dry, they made it hard to keep the ball in play. Many of us rounded up in the bunkers instead of on the green. Yet, Stephen Woodward managed muscle in a net score of 85 to take home top prize and "Old Man" Wayne Goforth slipped in a net score of 72 for second place. The month of May brought out another good turn out for NCDGA golfers. There were 24 who participated. Among those 24 was Jamie Moore, son of Darrell Moore. He is one of NCDGA youngest golfer and we need more of them. Jamie has shown to be capable of beating out many of NCDGA golfers. With a gross score of 79 to top the rest of the field proves he is a qualified competitor. Ray Blanks, one of our senior "seasoned" golfers came in second with gross score of 91.
