Everette Patterson
THE NEW RIVER COUNTRY GOLF CLUB
               WELCOMES NCDGA

 AUGUST 19                             SPARTA, NC
This month's golf tournament took place high up in the Blue Ridge mountains, just a few miles from Sparta. The average temperature for the summer ranges from upper 80's to lower 70's. "Perfect weather for golf" so said the hosting member, Everette Patterson.  This golf course is very similar to Land Harbor golf course on which we played last month. It may be longer and more challenging.
Patterson was able to draw 12 of us, golfers to participate in his "Captain Choice" tourney. Of the four teams of threes, Darrell Moore, Charles Dawkins  and Tony Goodson came out being the winners with a score of 59. Actually they did tied with another team, (Stephen Woodward, Lynn Emmett and Ray Blanks), but took the win by having a better score on the number one handicap hole. The other two teams struggled a bit and were glad it was not an "individual" type tournament  because our scores would have  been much higher.
A big "thank" goes to Everette Patterson for a great job hosting the tournament.
Tony Goodson, Charles Dawkins and Darrell Moore
