In the beginning many years ago there was a gentleman name Ralph Crutchfield.   He

and his golf buddies, who lived around Winston-Salem, NC and Greensboro, NC founded  the North Carolina Golf

Association for the Deaf. (N.C.G.A.D.)  They wrote the first By-Laws in around 1964-65.  Soon after they held

their first Annual North Carolina Golf Tournament for the Deaf at Deep River Golf Course near Greensboro,

NC on September 12,1966.  The winner  of that first tournament was Vernon Quaries of Asheville, NC.  After

1966 there were numerous of golf tournaments and social events held in Burlington, Lenior, Morganton, Black

Mountain, High Point, and other places in N.C. held through out the year.   By the end of 1966 there were twenty-

five members including some golfers from Virginia were recorded.

Editor's Note:

Slowly, but surley; we're trying to dig up all the past history of the Association.   Bits and pieces are
coming in and as we analyze the issues, we'll post it here .     We are trying to be as accurate as we
can.  Thank you for your input and patience.
